Set a real timer
Twenty minutes is the boundary, not the opening bid. Stop when it rings unless finishing one tiny action prevents more work.
Close five loops
Adjust the list to your household's actual pain points.
- Kitchen: clear enough space for breakfast
- Floor: make one safe walking path
- Launch pad: place keys, bags and shoes
- Calendar: check tomorrow's first fixed event
- Body: fill water, take prescribed medicine and go toward bed
Share the shift
Give each available family member a complete zone or repeatable job. Avoid becoming the walking assignment board; post the jobs or use the same ownership each night.
Skip what will not matter tomorrow
Decorative arranging, deep cleaning and mystery drawers are not closing-shift tasks. The shift exists to lower tomorrow's friction, not prove the house was conquered.
