Start messy

Set a five-minute timer and capture fragments exactly as they arrive. Do not make the list pretty. Your only job is to stop holding the thoughts.

Use three gentle buckets

Sort the page into tomorrow, this week and not now. Most thoughts do not deserve tomorrow’s limited energy.

  • Tomorrow: time-sensitive and truly important
  • This week: necessary, but not an emergency
  • Not now: ideas, worries and someday tasks

Give your brain a closing sentence

End with: “It is written down. I can look again tomorrow.” Predictability helps your brain understand that forgetting is no longer the only risk-management strategy.
